Plainsmen Swing Hot Bats in Cold Weather, Sweep Lamar CC
[BORGER – March 23, 2022]
The Plainsmen hosted Lamar Community College today in a double header at Plainsmen Park.
The Plainsmen started game 1 on fire at the plate. Cade Zalewski was the fire starter for the Plainsmen as he got things started with a 2 RBI triple. Zalewski also brought 2 more runs in as he left the yard in the 4th. Perez also Chris Perez also joined in by bringing home 3 runs today. Game 1 was never in doubt as the Plainsmen scored 4 in the 1st, 4 in the 3rd, and 4 in the 4th. Bringing their lead to 12-0 entering the top of the 5th. They were able to complete the run rule victory in the top of the 5th and win 12-2.
In Game 2 the Plainsmen picked up where they left off with another huge game from Cade Zalewski who was able to bringing 7 RBIs with his bat totaling 11 on the day and going 7 for 7 from the plate. The Plainsmen scored 2 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, and 4 in the 4th, bringing the score to 13-4. Things took a wrong turn in the top of the 5th as the Plainsmen gave up 12 runs and lost a huge lead. After 5 frames we were tied at 16-16 and now were looking to avoid a complete meltdown. Each team scored 1 run apiece making it 17-17 going into the bottom of the 8th. The hero of the day Cade Zalewski was able to come through for the final time and hit a walk off single to give the Plainsmen the sweep on the day.
The Plainsmen will return to action on Friday as they welcome in conference opponent New Mexico JC to Borger, TX and Plainsmen Park. They are slated for a 4-game set beginning Friday at 12PM CDT. Follow along on Gamechanger!
