The Frank Phillips College Rodeo Team is gearing up for an exciting and action-packed spring season, highlighted by home events, championship clinics, and major regional rodeos across Texas. With competition heating up in the Caprock Region, the Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen are preparing to showcase their talent, dedication, and western heritage in the months ahead.
Kicking off the spring slate was the "75 Degrees in February" Breakaway Jackpot on February 5 at Plainsmen Arena in Borger, giving competitors an early opportunity to sharpen their skills in front of a hometown crowd. The momentum continued February 9-10 with a Champions Seminar featuring World Champion Erin Johnson at Plainsmen Arena, providing invaluable instruction and insight from one of the sport's elite competitors. Later in the month, the team will travel to the Odessa College Rodeo from February 26-28 at Ector Coliseum in Odessa, TX, where they will compete against top programs in the region.
March promises to be just as busy. The Champions Summit Bull Riding Clinic on March 3-4 will feature World Champion Sage Kimzey and PBR Finalist Dalton Kassel, offering Plainsmen riders the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business. On March 11, the team will attend the Patriot College Rodeo Meet & Greet at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, continuing to build relationships and represent FPC on a larger stage. Back home, Rodeo Days on March 17 at Paul Belton Elementary will allow team members to connect with local youth and promote the sport within the community. The competitive schedule continues with the Western Texas College Rodeo in Snyder, TX (March 26-28).
April will close out the regular season with several key rodeos that could determine regional standings. The team will compete at the Howard College Rodeo in Big Spring (April 9-11), followed by the West Texas A&M College Rodeo at Spicer Gripp Arena in Hereford (April 16-18). The season will conclude with the South Plains College Rodeo April 23-25 at the Mallett Event Center in Levelland, before the Caprock NIRA Region Award Presentation on April 26, also at the Mallett Event Center. As the Plainsmen continue to compete with grit and determination, the spring schedule reflects both their commitment to excellence and the proud rodeo tradition at Frank Phillips College.
Fans are encouraged to come out, support the team, and experience the excitement of college rodeo this spring.
